How does the Quran address fear, anxiety,
Fear is a feeling that each one of us knows.
It may appear without reason,
or it may come as a result of a word, a situation, or an old memory that hasn't healed yet.
And anxiety… that unwelcome guest that pervades thought in the weakest moments.
And worry… that shadow that follows people anywhere they go.
However the Quran… does not leave you facing these feelings without a remedy.
It puts before you a word that soothes everything:
“Those who have believed and whose hearts are assured by the remembrance of Allah. Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured.”
(Ar-Ra'd 28)
This verse is not merely a recitation;
It is a precise description of a human and spiritual truth:
The heart does not find peace by being coerced,
nor does it find tranquility by escaping,
but rather it finds rest when it feels it is in Allah’s hands …
Feeling safe, heard, understood.
The Quran addresses fear when it strengthens your trust in Allah,
and addresses anxiety when it reminds you that you are not alone,
and addresses worry when it opens for you the door of supplication,
and the door of hope,
and the door of peaceful patience.
When you draw nearer to the Quran…
Circumstances may not always change,
but your inner self does.
You become stronger than you were,
and quieter than you expected,
and more capable of facing what you feared. Take a moment to calm down…
Read a verse…
Raise your hands…
And say: O Lord.
And you will know that the Quran doesn't just change the days…
But that it changes the heart that has to confront them.
