Some people celebrate the Halloween, an occasion known for its frightening costumes and scary ambiance. It's important to understand that Islam views the purpose and content of an event or occasion and evaluates it according to its lenient teachings.

In Islam, Muslims are advised against excessive fear and panic. Instead, they are taught to seek peace and psychological tranquility. Allah, the Almighty, invites us in the Holy Quran to serenity and assurance, urging us to foster safety and peace in our lives and communities.

Allah says in the Holy Quran:

"[Battle in] the sacred month is for [aggression committed in] the sacred month,[1] and for [all] violations is legal retribution. So whoever has assaulted you, then assault him in the same way that he has assaulted you. And fear Allah and know that Allah is with those who fear Him."

(Al-Baqarah 2:194)

In this verse, God calls us to maintain peace and avoid aggression and violence and to be conscious of God in our dealings with others. Islam emphasizes humility, mercy, and the establishment of justice and peace in every aspect of life.

In the prophetic tradition, there are numerous hadiths that encourage tolerance, peace, and human solidarity.

Prophet Muhammad,

peace be upon him, said: "One of the best rules of Islam is gentleness, and one of the best acts of worship is gentleness."

(Sahih Muslim)

In this hadith, the Messenger emphasizes the importance of gentleness and kindness in our interactions with others. Gentleness and kindness are the Islamic way to express love, peace, and achieve psychological reassurance.

On the occasion of Halloween, let us remember that Islam encourages us to foster peace and psychological assurance, to treat others with gentleness and kindness, and to respect the teachings of our religion. Let's build bridges of dialogue and understanding between cultures and work to foster peace and love in our communities
