Supplicating Allah for the sake of parents is an act of dutifulness

Allah said ( interpretation of the meaning ) :

{ And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy and say, "My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up [when I was] small }

Quran ( 17 : 24 )

Do not despair. Indeed your Lord responds to the supplications

Allah said ( interpretation of the meaning ) : { At that, Zechariah called upon his Lord, saying, "My Lord, grant me from Yourself a good offspring. Indeed, You are the Hearer of supplication." } Quran ( 3 : 38 )
