Turn to Allah to receive his mercy

Allah said ( interpretation of the meaning ) :

{ And, [O Muhammad], say, "My Lord, forgive and have mercy, and You are the best of the merciful. }

Quran ( 23 : 118 )

Combine the benefits of both this world and the Hereafter

Allah said ( interpretation of the meaning ) : { But among them is he who says, "Our Lord, give us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire." Those will have a share of what they have earned, and Allah is swift in account. } Quran ( 2 : 201 - 202 )

Allah said ( interpretation of the meaning ) : { And when My servants ask you, [O Muhammad], concerning Me - indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me. Allah said ( interpretation of the meaning ) : { My Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and [many] from my descendants. Our Lord, and accept my supplication. Our Lord, forgive me and my parents and the believers the Day the account is established." } Quran ( 14 : 40 – 41 )

Reflect upon the creation of Allah and keep your tongue moist out of remembering and supplicating him

Allah said ( interpretation of the meaning ) : { Who remember Allah while standing or sitting or [lying] on their sides and give thought to the creation of the heavens and the earth, [saying], "Our Lord, You did not create this aimlessly; exalted are You [above such a thing]; then protect us from the punishment of the Fire. }Quran ( 3 : 191 )

Supplicating Allah for the sake of parents is an act of dutifulness

Allah said ( interpretation of the meaning ) : { And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy and say, "My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up [when I was] small } Quran ( 17 : 24 )
