People's need for blessings."

Blessings are a favor that Allah, exalted be He, bestows upon whomever He wills among His servants. These are among the most important things people need in their lives. Many people feel that they lack blessings as concerns their money and time, as well as their health and families sometimes, despite their constant striving to fulfill their desires and needs. Blessings are not about having a large amount of money or enjoying a long life. They are rather about an increase and growth in everything. They are to be found in the successes that Allah grants in everyday life and which make little work result in great benefits, a scanty livelihood remain constant, and the passing of years not affecting health. Allah, exalted be He, says: "And if only the people of the cities had believed and feared Allah, We would have opened [i.e., bestowed] upon them blessings from the heaven and the earth; but they denied [the messengers], so We seized them for what they were earning." [Al-A'raf: 96]
This verse shows that blessing comes from faith and piety. If a person is close to Allah, everything he does will be filled with blessings, which mean Allah, exalted be He, made things easy to obtain favors from the heavens and the earth.

Many people complain about the lack of blessings in their lives, in their money and time, although they seem to bask in felicity. Some of them have money but do not spend it on charitable causes. You see them constantly counting it and being preoccupied with what they have without feeling any comfort or blessing in that. Others spend their money on sins and in disobeying Allah, which increases their suffering and deprives them of any blessings.

Blessings are an increase and a growth in all aspects of life. It is what makes what is little sufficient and what is bountiful beneficial. It is what multiplies time, multiplies energy, and leads to accomplishments. Blessings can make every moment valuable and every action worthwhile. It is what enables a person to receive sustenance from sources he never expected. If Allah blesses wealth, it grows and increases; if He blesses health, it remains constantly good for a long time; if He blesses children, He makes them righteous offspring. Allah, exalted be He, has informed us in His Noble Book that blessings are the result of piety and faith, and that it is to be found in obeying Him.
