When you discover that freedom is not opposed to faith
“There shall be no compulsion in religion” [Al-Baqarah: 256]
Many believe that religion puts restrictions on people.
But… is freedom for me to lead a meaningless life?
To possess everything, yet not own myself?
In the Quran, freedom is not to run away from faith,
but to find in faith a path to who you truly are.
Allah does not force you,
but invites you.
He says: "There shall be no compulsion in religion." It’s but one verse… but that is enough to change everything.
He doesn't want that you submit out of fear,
but rather that you be open and honest.
He wants you to choose the path… with a free heart.
When you speak to Allah,
speak as one who longs to be understood,
as someone who seeks for meaning in the midst of noise,
as someone who asks for peace, not for a miracle,
and as someone who hopes that the question he had dared ask no one be heard.
Freedom in the Quran is not opposed to faith,
but it is rather to believe while you can abstain from believing,
and then choose to believe because you have found yourself in belief.
Here the journey begins…
The soul's journey to its first freedom
