One of the signs of the last day is the smoke that fills the sky.

On the day when the sky will be filled with visible smoke that envelops the people, and they will be told: This is a painful torment, then they will ask Allah to relieve them from it, yet when Allah relieves them, they will continue their disbelief

Allah said ( interpretation of the meaning ) :

{ Then watch for the Day when the sky will bring a visible smoke. Covering the people; this is a painful torment. [They will say], "Our Lord, remove from us the torment; indeed, we are believers." }
