Mountains as Stakes

When scientists studied the earth’s crust, they found out that this layer of the earth is not the same in terms of thickness. It is different from one area to another. The amazing thing is that the crust under the mountains is found to be very thick. Scientists found out that every mountain has a root extended in the earth for tens of kilometers. Even the images that scientists sketch to show the mountains, they show clearly the mountains like stakes rooted in the earth. It was proven that these stakes stabilize the earth’s crust and the lithosphere (rocky shell) so that they do not shake under us.

Almighty Allah says:

“Have We not made the earth a resting place? And the mountains as stakes?”

(An-Naba: 6-7)

The Lord of the Worlds speaks in these two verses about his many blessings. He made the earth a resting place so that we live on it. He made the mountains as stakes to solidify and stabilize the earth. Glorified is Allah!
