The Psychology of the Soul in the Holy Quran."

The soul is one of the greatest creations of Allah, honored and elevated to the highest status, as Allah has attributed it to Himself in His Holy Book. The soul represents a hidden aspect of human existence, known only to Allah, and it is the secret of life that gives the body its vitality. The Holy Quran emphasizes the importance of the soul, its connection to the self and body, and its role in human life, both materially and spiritually.
Allah created humans from both body and soul, assigning each a role in life. The soul is described in the Quran as a divine matter known only to Allah. Allah says:
 And they ask you, [O Muhammad], about the soul. Say, "The soul is of the affair [i.e., concern] of my Lord. And you [i.e., mankind] have not been given of knowledge except a little"   (Al-Isra 17:85)

Poured upon their heads will be scalding waterBy which is melted that within their bellies and [their] skins.And for [striking] them are maces of iron.Every time they want to get out of it [i.e., Hellfire] from anguish...
