Establishing the prayer is the main pillar of Islam and the criteria of having a firm faith in the Hereafter. The one who neglects it will surely neglect the other acts of worship. This sin will cause him to follow his lusts.

Allah said ( interpretation of the meaning ) :

{ But there came after them successors [i.e., later generations] who neglected prayer and pursued desires; so they are going to meet evil1 - Except those who repent, believe and do righteousness; for those will enter Paradise and will not be wronged at all. }

Quran ( 59 – 60 : 19 )
