Worshiping other than Allah

Allah has created man to worship Him alone; therefore, the greatest right Allah has over His servants is that they acknowledge His Oneness and address their prayers, pin their hope, assuage their fear, consecrate their sacrificial offerings, make their vows, and perform all other forms of worship exclusively in relation to Him.
Yet, associating other deities to Allah begins when a person addresses any of these acts of worship to someone other than Allah, believing that they possess the power to cause benefit or harm in an independent way, or that they deserve to be invoked alongside Allah. The Quran has made clear the true nature of those who are worshiped besides Allah, stating:
“And they have taken deities besides Allah that perhaps they might be helped. They are not able to help them...” [Ya-Sin: 74-75]
How, then, can those who cannot even help themselves be expected to solve other people’s problems or relieve their distress?
Oneness is not merely a word that is uttered; it is the sincere dedication of the heart and deeds to Allah alone. None other than Allah is to be invoked; none other than Him is to be expected to grant help; no act of worship is to be addressed to anyone other than Him, exalted be He. Whoever preserves their belief in Allah’s Oneness has held fast to the greatest means of salvation in this world and the Hereafter
