Why Are We Tested?

“And We will surely test you...”
This is how Allah began the verse.
“With something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits...” [Al-Baqarah: 155]
Are you afraid?
Don't stop at the pain...
Rather, pay attention to the end:
“And give good tidings to the patient.”
Allah does not test you in order to punish you...
Rather, He does so in order to purify you, to draw you nearer, and to elevate you.

“Indeed, Allah is with the patient.” [Al-Baqarah: 153]
So when the test becomes more intense... don't run away.

Get closer to the One who removes distress.
And say as your Lord has commanded you:
“Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed, to Him we will return.” [Al-Baqarah: 156]
In every pain... there is a call to return, not to run away.
You are in the hands of the All-Knowing, All-Aware...
So put your trust in Him,
and know that He will not let you down.
