And had your Lord willed, those on earth would have believed

And had your Lord willed, those on earth would have believed – all of them entirely. Then, [O Muúammad], would you compel the people in order that they become believers?

And cause not corruption upon....

And cause not corruption upon the earth after its reformation. And invoke Him in fear and aspiration. Indeed, the mercy of Allah is near to the doers of good.

42 21

And [Allah revealed] that if they had remained straight on the way

And [Allah revealed] that if they had remained straight on the way, We would have given them abundant rain [i.e., provision]. So We might test them therein. And whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord[1] He will put into arduous punishment.
