The Individual as a Nation:
When One Person Creates
the Impact of an Entire Ummah
In moments of crisis, those who are truthful come forth. A man whose name is not known, but whose attitude saved a prophet.
The Individual as a Nation
If there had not been among the previous nations those who forbade corruption on earth, destruction would have been complete, but Allah saved a few of them. O Allah, grant us to be among the reformers!
“And a man came from the farthest end of the city, running. He said, “O Moses, indeed the eminent ones are conferring over you [intending] to kill you, so leave [the city]; indeed, I am to you of the sincere advisors.”[Al-Qasas:20 ]
In moments of crisis, those who are truthful come forth. A man whose name is not known, but whose attitude saved a prophet.
Truthful advice given at the right time can change the fate of a nation.
“And a man came from the farthest end of the city, running. He said, “O Moses, indeed the eminent ones are conferring over you [intending] to kill you, so leave [the city]; indeed, I am to you of the sincere advisors.”[Al-Qasas:20 ]
Don’t wait to be famous to make an impact.
It is enough to be honest, courageous, and sincere in your advice, and history may immortalize your stance, though not your name.
“Say, ‘Indeed, my prayer, my rites of sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah, Lord of the worlds.’” [Al An’am: 162]
When Allah is your goal in life, all your ordinary actions turn into worship... Your prayer, your efforts, and even your death become a path leading to Him.
“Say, ‘Indeed, my prayer, my rites of sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah, Lord of the worlds.’” [Al An’am: 162]
Real sincerity is not a moment’s journey, but rather a lifelong one that begins with your intention to pray and continues in every detail, until death.
“Indeed, this Qur’an guides to that which is most suitable and gives good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a great reward.”[Al Isra’: 9]
In a world with numerous paths and where bearings are lost, there is only one path that guides to what is upright without deviation or deviance.
Seek light in the Book of Allah, and you will find the path.
“Indeed, this Qur’an guides to that which is most suitable and gives good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a great reward.”[Al Isra’: 9]
This is not an ordinary promise, but rather good tidings from the Lord of the Worlds to every believer who accomplishes righteous deeds: a great reward awaits you.
What a great promise this is, and what a generous Lord He is.
And is one who was dead and We gave him life and made for him light by which to walk among the people like one who is in darkness, never to emerge therefrom? Thus it has been made pleasing to the disbelievers that which they were doing.” [Al An’am: 122]
Guidance is not just knowledge; it is rather a new life that is infused in the heart, and a light that illuminates your path amidst the darkness of people.
And is one who was dead and We gave him life and made for him light by which to walk among the people like one who is in darkness, never to emerge therefrom? Thus it has been made pleasing to the disbelievers that which they were doing.” [Al An’am: 122]
The difference between someone who lives by the light of faith and someone who is immersed in the darkness of heedlessness is similar to the difference between a living person who moves with insight and a dead person who cannot see.
“Those who have believed and whose hearts are assured by the remembrance of Allah. Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured.”[Ar-Ra’ad: 28]
Excessive thinking does relieve anxiety nor does it assuage worry; but purifying one’s heart does. Remembrance of Allah is the key to tranquility for those who feel crushed by this world.
“Those who have believed and whose hearts are assured by the remembrance of Allah. Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured.”[Ar-Ra’ad: 28]
When you look for tranquility in the midst of chaos, you will find it in only one place: where the heart sincerely remembers its Lord.
Tranquility cannot be bought, but it is granted to those who turn to Allah.
“And I said, "Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver. He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [continuing] showers and give you increase in wealth and children and provide for you gardens and provide for you rivers. " ” [Nuh: 10-12].
Asking for forgiveness is not only for the forgiveness of sins, but is also a door to provision, peace of mind, and abundance in favors.
Whoever feels distressed by this world, let him knock on the door of heaven with one word: I ask Allah for forgiveness.
When the sky dries up, provisions are delayed, and goodness is scarce... the cure is in your hands: seeking forgiveness.
It is a divine promise that never fails. All you have to do is start and persevere.
“And Pharaoh said, ‘Let me kill Moses and let him call upon his Lord. Indeed, I fear that he will change your religion or that he will cause corruption in the land.’ ”[Ghafir: 26].
Tyrants always fear change and disguise truth into falsehood.
Pharaoh did not fear corruption; he rather feared losing his power because of a word of truth.
“And Pharaoh said, ‘Let me kill Moses and let him call upon his Lord. Indeed, I fear that he will change your religion or that he will cause corruption in the land.’ ”[Ghafir: 26].
When reform becomes "corruption" in the eyes of the oppressors, be sure that the voice of truth has hurt them, and that your call has begun to bear fruit.
“And cause not corruption upon the earth after its reformation. And invoke Him in fear and aspiration. Indeed, the mercy of Allah is near to the doers of good. [Al A’raf: 56].
Corruption after reform is doubly a crime, because it destroys whatever good was built. So do not become an instrument of destruction after you have known the path to reconstruction.
“And cause not corruption upon the earth after its reformation. And invoke Him in fear and aspiration. Indeed, the mercy of Allah is near to the doers of good. [Al A’raf: 56].
Call upon your Lord with a fearful and hopeful heart, for the door of mercy is near, but it only opens for those who do good deeds, were good on the earth and did not cause corruption.
The ones whom the angels take in death, [being] good and pure; [the angels] will say, “Peace be upon you. Enter Paradise for what you used to do.” [An-Nahl: 32].
How wonderful would a good ending be, with the angels to greet you with peace, and the gates of Paradise to be opened for you for the good deeds you have done.
The ending shortens the journey, so choose for yourself how you would like your end to be.
The ones whom the angels take in death, [being] good and pure; [the angels] will say, “Peace be upon you. Enter Paradise for what you used to do.” [An-Nahl: 32].
Your deeds today are words of welcome tomorrow, so spread goodness in every moment, for the moment of farewell may be closer than you think.
