The Meaning of Existence in the Light of the Quran
Your life is not in vain; every moment has a deep purpose.
We are on a journey towards the Creator, and returning to Him is our goal.
The Meaning of Existence in the Light of the Quran
Allah has created us so as to worship Him only. He is self-sufficient and doesn’t need anything from us.
The purpose of our lives is not wealth or provision, but being close to the Creator and sincerely worshiping Him.
“Then did you then think that We created you uselessly and that to Us would not be returned ? So exalted is Allah, the Sovereign, the Truth; there is no deity except Him, Lord of the Noble Throne.” (Al-Mu'minun 115-116)
Your life is not in vain; every moment has a deep purpose.
We are on a journey towards the Creator, and returning to Him is our goal.
“Then did you then think that We created you uselessly and that to Us would not be returned ? So exalted is Allah, the Sovereign, the Truth; there is no deity except Him, Lord of the Noble Throne.” (Al-Mu'minun 115-116)
Every step in your life has a reason, and returning to Allah is the horizon.
“And I did not create the jinn and
mankind except to worship Me. I do
not want from them any provision,
nor do I want them to feed Me.
(Adh-Dhariyyat : 56-57)
Allah has created us so as to worship Him only.
He is self-sufficient and doesn’t need anything
from us.
The purpose of our lives is not wealth or
provision, but being close to the Creator and
sincerely worshiping Him.
“And I did not create the jinn and
mankind except to worship Me. I do
not want from them any provision,
nor do I want them to feed Me.
(Adh-Dhariyyat : 56-57)
The purpose of our lives is being sincere towards
Allah, not accumulating wealth or provision.
“Does man think that he will be left
neglected? Had he not been a sperm
from semen emitted? Then he was a
clinging clot, and [Allah] created
[his form] and proportioned [him]”
(Al-Qiyyamah: 36,37, 38)
Human beings have not been created without
any purpose… Our journey begins from a teeny
tiny drop of fluid, then we become a complete
and harmonious creation.
“Does man think that he will be left
neglected? Had he not been a sperm
from semen emitted? Then he was a
clinging clot, and [Allah] created
[his form] and proportioned [him]”
(Al-Qiyyamah: 36,37, 38)
From a microscopic, unseen stage… to a human
being who hears, sees, and thinks.
“And to Allah belongs the dominion
of the heavens and the earth, and
Allah is over all things competent.
Indeed, in the creation of the
heavens and the earth and the
alternation of the night and the day
are signs for those of
understanding”
(Al-Imran : 189, 190)
Look at the heavens and the earth, and the way
days and night alternate …
This harmony is not a coincidence, but the
signature of a Creator who owns and knows
perfectly the universe.
“And to Allah belongs the dominion
of the heavens and the earth, and
Allah is over all things competent.
Indeed, in the creation of the
heavens and the earth and the
alternation of the night and the day
are signs for those of
understanding”
(Al-Imran : 189, 190)
The entire universe functions in a wonderful and
flawless way…
Whoever meditates realizes that behind it lies a
power greater than mankind.
“We will show them Our signs in
the horizons and within themselves
until it becomes clear to them that it
is the truth. But is it not sufficient
concerning your Lord that He is,
over all things, a Witness?” (
Fussilat: 53)
Whenever you meditate upon the universe… and
whenever you look within yourself, you
experience the feeling that the truth is not far
away.
There is a hidden voice that guides you to
certainty; just open your heart to it.
“We will show them Our signs in
the horizons and within themselves
until it becomes clear to them that it
is the truth. But is it not sufficient
concerning your Lord that He is,
over all things, a Witness?” (
Fussilat: 53)
In every direction of the horizon, and in every
heartbeat within you… there is a sign telling
you: You are not alone.
Allah shows you what you need so as to know
the way.
“[And] who created seven heavens
in layers. You do not see in the
creation of the Most Merciful any
inconsistency. So return [your]
vision [to the sky]; do you see any
breaks?” (Al-Mulk: 3)
Looking at the heavens is enough to see a
flawless harmony.
A perfect creation whispers to you: The hand of
the Most Merciful suffers no imperfection.
“[And] who created seven heavens
in layers. You do not see in the
creation of the Most Merciful any
inconsistency. So return [your]
vision [to the sky]; do you see any
breaks?” (Al-Mulk: 3)
When you look again and again… you will find
no flaw or disorder.
The entire universe tells you that its Creator is
perfect in His creation.
“But those who have avoided ṭaghut, lest they worship it, and
turned back to Allah – for them are
good tidings. So give good tidings to
My servants who listen to speech
and follow the best of it. Those are
the ones Allah has guided, and those
are people of understanding.” (Az-
Zumar: 17,18)
When people purify their heart from all that leads them astray and return to Allah sincerely…
He opens the path for them, overwhelms them
with glad tidings, and guides them to the purest
paths of truth.
“But those who have avoided ṭaghut, lest they worship it, and
turned back to Allah – for them are
good tidings. So give good tidings to
My servants who listen to speech
and follow the best of it. Those are
the ones Allah has guided, and those
are people of understanding.” (Az-
Zumar: 17,18)
Guidance is not for those who listen much… but
for those who discern good and hold fast to what
is best in it.
Those are the ones whom Allah has granted a
pure mind and an insight that never errs away
from the path.
“Then do they not reflect upon the
Qur’an? If it had been from [any]
other than Allah, they would have
found within it much
contradiction.” (An-Nisa: 82)
One single word from the Quran is enough to
open a door of light…
And whoever meditates it sincerely perceives a
harmony that no human being can achieve.
“Then do they not reflect upon the
Qur’an? If it had been from [any]
other than Allah, they would have
found within it much
contradiction.” (An-Nisa: 82)
Truth doesn’t need to be adorned. It is enough to
meditate upon it to realize that its source is
divine.
A book without any contradiction… could only
be from Allah.
“Those who have believed and
whose hearts are assured by the
remembrance of Allah.
Unquestionably, by the
remembrance of Allah hearts are
assured.”
(Ar-Raad:28)
There are moments when nothing can alleviate
the heart's worries…except when one
remembers their Lord, then tranquility comes
back as if it had been waiting for the call.
“Those who have believed and
whose hearts are assured by the
remembrance of Allah.
Unquestionably, by the
remembrance of Allah hearts are
assured.”
(Ar-Raad:28)
Peace of mind is not to be found in changing
circumstances, but in the heart's relation with its
Lord.
When Allah is remembered… everything that
was in turmoil within calms down.
“And will provide for him from
where he does not expect. And
whoever relies upon Allah – then He
is sufficient for him. Indeed, Allah will accomplish His purpose.
Allah has already set for everything
a [decreed] extent. (At-Talaq: 3)
Provision comes from unexpected sources…
So if you truly rely on Allah, He will be
sufficient for you and will give you more than
you hoped for.
“And will provide for him from
where he does not expect. And
whoever relies upon Allah – then He
is sufficient for him. Indeed, Allah will accomplish His purpose.
Allah has already set for everything
a [decreed] extent. (At-Talaq: 3)
Whoever trusts in Allah will see doors open for
them without any apparent reason.
Everything for Him is with precise measure and
a decree that will come in its due time.
